How to size a women's golf glove

Measure across your palm. Wrap a tape measure around your hand just below the knuckles, thumb excluded. Most women land between a small and a large, and XS and XXS are available in some ranges. If you are between two sizes, take the smaller one.

Know which gloves are cut for women. Several gloves in this range are designed specifically for women, including the FootJoy StaSof Ladies and RainGrip Ladies, the TaylorMade Kalea and Tour Preferred Ladies, and the Cobra Pur Tech Ladies. The rest are unisex models offered in women's sizing. Those fit plenty of people perfectly well, but they are cut on a men's pattern. If you have narrow hands or long fingers, start with the women's-specific models.

Sizing varies more between brands here than it does in men's ranges. A medium in one brand can fit like a small in another. If a size does not feel right, try the same size in a different brand before you change size.

Our take on women's gloves

This is a category where trying one on is worth the trip. Women's glove ranges are narrower than men's across the whole industry, sizing is less consistent between brands, and the difference between a glove that fits and one that nearly fits is the difference between a glove that lasts a season and one that wears through at the fingers.

Common questions

Which hand does a golf glove go on?

The opposite hand to the one you write with. Right-handed golfers wear a glove on the left hand. It is the hand at the top of the grip, which is the one doing the holding.

Do women's golf gloves fit differently to men's?

Yes. A women's glove is cut narrower through the palm and slightly longer in the fingers relative to its width. A women's small and a men's small are not the same shape even when the palm measurement matches.

Can I just wear a men's small?

Plenty of women do, and if it fits, it fits. But a men's small is a wider, shorter-fingered shape, so if you find gloves loose across the palm or tight at the fingertips, a women's-specific model will suit you better.
