Womens Golf Shoes

A womens golf shoe is shaped differently, not just made smaller. Narrower through the heel, lower over the instep, softer underfoot. That is why a small mens shoe slips at the heel. Styles from adidas, FootJoy, Nike, Puma and more, spiked and spikeless, in womens sizing.

What makes a womens golf shoe different

The honest version, because most retailers do not say it.

The shape is genuinely different. Every shoe is built around a foot-shaped mould called a last, and womens models use a different one: narrower through the heel relative to the forefoot, and lower in volume over the instep. That is why a womens 8 and a mens 6.5 do not feel the same on the foot even where the length matches. Heel slip is the usual complaint from a woman wearing a small mens shoe, and it is a last problem, not a size problem.

The sole is tuned differently. Traction patterns and midsole firmness on womens models are set for lower average body weight, which is why they can run softer without feeling unstable.

Not everything badged womens is designed for women. Some models are a mens shoe in a smaller size run and a different colourway. The adidas Ladies range in this collection is genuinely womens-specific. If you are unsure about a model, ask in store.

Our take

If you have been buying small mens golf shoes because the womens range never had your size, it is worth trying a genuine womens shoe before you assume the problem is your feet. The heel is usually where the difference shows up immediately.

Common questions

Can I just wear a mens shoe in a smaller size?

You can, and plenty of women do, usually because the range left them no choice. The trade-off is heel fit. If your heel lifts when you walk, the shoe is not holding you through the swing, and a womens shoe will almost always fix it.

What sizes do you carry?

Womens sizing runs roughly 8W through 11.5W across the range, with some models also in European sizing. Not every model spans the full run.

Which womens golf shoes are spikeless?

Most of them. The adidas Ladies range is largely spikeless, including MC70, S2G, Codechaos 27, Adizero ZG and Zoysia. If you want cleats, the Tour360 Boost Ladies and ZG23 BOA Ladies are the spiked options.

Do womens golf shoes come in a wide fit?

Rarely, and it is a real gap. Some womens models simply run more generously than others, and store staff can tell you which. Worth asking rather than guessing.

How should a golf shoe fit?

A thumb-width at the end, no heel lift when you walk, and no pressure across the ball of the foot. Try shoes on in the afternoon, when your feet are at their largest.
