Vokey SM9 Wedges
Master craftsman Bob Vokey has produced game-changing wedges for decades. The innovative club designer’s Vokey brand has been the most played wedge on the PGA Tour every year since 2004. With great interest, Titleist introduces New Vokey Design SM9 Wedges—it’s a comprehensive wedge line that offers the ultimate in optionality.
The new SM9 wedges are Vokey’s most complete line up of loft, grinds and bounce combinations. Vokey’s most versatile, accurate and forgiving series includes six grind options, 23 different models and lofts ranging from 46 to 62 degrees. Vokey developed the six Tour-validated grinds (F, S, M, K, L and D) through years of working alongside the game’s best shot-makers. The refined sole grinds offer all golfers more creativity and consistency around the green. SM9 wedges allow golfers of all skill levels to be precisely fit for their swing type (steep, neutral, shallow), shot making style (sweeper, digger) and course conditions (firm, neutral, soft).
SM9 enjoys advanced innovation improving upon the groundbreaking Progressive Center of Gravity (CG) design concept originally introduced with the Vokey Design SM8. With its revolutionary forward center of gravity position that hovers in front of the wedge face, SM9 is a solid feeling wedge that squares up at impact for more consistent results.
Maximum spin performance is one of the keys to great wedge play. To achieve the ultimate spin performance, SM9 features a new patented spin milled process. Spin milled grooves offer the industry benchmark in groove cutting precision and consistently sharper grooves wedge after wedge. Every wedge is meticulously engineered with micro-grooves individually cut in between grooves to improve spin on partial shots. SM9 wedges include applying a proprietary heat treatment to the impact area on the clubface. This innovation doubles the durability of the groove. According to Titleist, Vokey SM9 wedges offer the most durable groove in golf! SM9 grooves are Individually cut based on loft and finish. Lower lofts (46 to 54 degrees) are designed with narrower, deeper grooves. Higher lofts (56 to 62 degrees) are produced with wider, shallower grooves.
The modern and clean looking Vokey SM9 wedges are already a big hit on Tour. The new model debuted at Sentry Tournament of Champions, which was the opening PGA Tour event of the 2022 calendar year, with Australia’s Cameron Smith winning at his first start with the impressive clubs.
