TaylorMade launches the all-new P·790 Irons. It’s the third generation of the dynamic P·790 model—the player’s distance clubs are one of the best-selling iron franchises in the company’s history.
Designed to appeal to a wide range of golfers, the elegant looking TaylorMade P·790 Irons combine newly Engineered SpeedFoam™ Air with an Intelligent Sweet Spot. These technological advancements will help golfers obtain new heights of power and performance.
The all-new SpeedFoam Air is an ultralight urethane material distributed inside the reengineered forged hollow body construction. The lightweight foam filler is 69% less dense than the material used in the prior generation accounting for 3.5g in average weight savings per iron. The significant weight savings allowed engineers to redistribute mass to lower the center of gravity of the clubface to promote optimal launch conditions. The adjustments in weight properties allowed the development of an intelligent sweet spot that covers the most common strike points on the face and the construction of the thinnest face in P·790 history.
TaylorMade’s development team mapped tens of thousands of golf shots to determine the popular impact points on the iron face. This valuable data led engineers to shape and position the sweet spot to capture those shots. Testing indicated and improvement in ball speed and distance when compared to previous P·790 models.
Crafted from 8620 carbon steel, the artfully designed P·790 irons offer strength and durability while supporting a premium forged feel. Further club stability and forgiveness is ensured by the clever positioning of heavy tungsten weighting of up to 31g per iron head. TaylorMade’s patented Thru-Slot Speed Pocket continues to offer increased face flexibility while maintaining ball speed and distance on low face strikes.
P·790 UDI, a forged driving iron, completes the P·790 iron series. Available as a 2-iron (17 degrees), the P·790 UDI is powered by the all-new SpeedFoam™ Air. It is constructed of a soft, 8620 carbon steel body combined with a high strength forged 4140 carbon steel face. Designed for golfers who look for control without sacrificing distance, P·790 UDI promotes low spin shots with a piercing trajectory. The clever distance iron features the same intelligent sweet spot developed for the P·790 irons. And, It comes complete with proven TaylorMade technologies such as the Thru-Slot Speed Pocket™ and Forged Hollow Body Construction with a new thin-walled design.
