PING
G430 Family
PING has hit the market with their new G430 Family that was engineered to unlock more distance and custom-built to suit golfers of all skill levels. The stunning new line up features three driver models (MAX, SFT & LST), three fairway wood options (MAX, SFT & LST), six hybrid designs and an iron set.
G430 Drivers
PING engineers achieved measurable ball-speed gains during testing with the G430 drivers. In part, the gain in ball speed across the impressive suite is due to the combination of a shallower and thinner VFT forged face crafted with Spinsistency. Spinsistency is a variable roll radius technology that was a proven success with the brand’s G425 fairway woods and hybrids. PING’s development crew also directed specific advancements to each of the three driver model heads.
MAX, with its massive 460cc head, is the most forgiving model and is best suited to the broadest range of golfers. The consistent performer includes a 25-gram, high-density tungsten moveable weight to help influence shot shape through its draw, fade and neutral settings. It is available in three loft options (9°, 10.5° and 12°) and uses an eight-setting Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel for further loft adjustability. SFT driver (Straight Flight Technology) is another 460cc model.
SFT offers a two-setting adjustable 22-gram tungsten backweight with a heavy Draw bias to better help golfers straighten their fade/slice drives. PING testing indicates the Draw setting will deliver up to 12 metres of draw bend and an additional seven metres (total of 20 metres) in the Draw+ setting.
LST model (Low Spin Technology) boasts a smaller 440cc tour-style head and was crafted for golfers with faster swing speeds, LST features a Carbonfly Wrap—it’s a lightweight composite that covers the crown and wraps into the heel/ toe areas of the clubhead. This clever eight-layer innovation saves weight and lowers the clubhead center of gravity producing more ball speed and lowering the ball spin rate. LST includes an adjustable 22-gram backweight to help golfers draw or fade the ball.
G430 Fairway Woods
G430 Fairways include MAX, SFT and LST models. The trio of options feature Carbonfly Wrap technology. The lightweight composite crown saves 10 grams of weight. Engineers reallocated the mass to achieve a lower centre of gravity to deliver increased ball speed for higher ball flight and longer carries. FaceWrap Technology and the innovation of Spinsistency are two proven advancements from previous PING generations that remain in the new line up. FaceWrap Technology offers faster ball speed and greater distance with higher flight. This is achieved via its variable-thickness, high-strength maraging steel face which wraps into the sole and crown of the stainless steel clubhead to generate more flexing. Spinsistency reduces spin on thin shots to create more ball speed thereby improving performance across the entire clubface. MAX ideally suits the widest range of golfers and includes four options (3W/15°, 5W/18°, 7W/21°, 9W/24°). SFT helps golfers with lighter swingweights square the clubface at impact and includes three options (3W/16°, 5W/19°, 7W/22°). The tour-style LST model features Trajectory Tuning 2.0 for pinpoint adjustability.
G430 Hybrids
The new G430 Hybrids are fully loaded with PING’s supreme range of technologies—Carbonfly Wrap, FaceWrap and Spinsistency. There are six loft options (2H/17°, 3H/19°, 4H/22°, 5H/26°, 6H/30°, 7/34°). The ideal mid- and long-iron replacement clubs contain an eight-position hosel for the ultimate adjustability.
G430 Irons
Engineers crafted the new G430 irons with distance gains in mind without compromising the brand’s trusted forgiveness. The result produced up to 2 mph more ball speed and a gain of approximately 7-10 metres in distance. The PureFlex cavity badge innovation with seven flex zones was a major contributor to the gain in distance. The ingenious advancement allows more free bending during impact to project the ball with faster speeds. G430 irons feature a stronger lofts across the set to produce a 41 degree PW for better gapping options. This set up allowed for standard lofts in the traditional scoring wedges (45.5°, 50°, 54°, 58°). Designed with a shorter hosel, the more compact looking G430 irons include approximately 1 degree of additional bounce to the sole of the clubhead to reduce the risk of ‘heavy’ shots. And, the hydropearl 2.0 chrome finish offers consistent performance from all playing conditions.
