Blacklow & Sculthorpe Through To The Drummond Golf Cup Final

Jo Blacklow and Neil Sculthorpe scored narrow victories at the Drummond Golf Cup Tasmania Championship staged at Claremont Golf Club near Hobart on Friday October 13. The newly crowned state champions will join other winners across Australia at the Drummond Golf Cup National Final to be staged at Peninsula-Kingswood Golf Club on December 8.

Blacklow, a member at Claremont GC, carded 36 points to win the women's title by one point. Blacklow, who is relatively new to the game, will be making her first-ever golfing trip when she heads to Melbourne later this year. Shelley Hine-Hancock and Kim Hudson finished one-point back with 35 points. Two-time Drummond Golf Cup state champion Angela Burdon claimed fourth place with 33 points.

Sculthorpe won the men's title with a brilliant 41 points. The 11-marker from Royal Hobart brushed off 2017 DGC Tasmania champion Mark Chandler by one point. James Turner and Nathan King were the next best with 38 points.

Drummond Golf Ambassador Brett Ogle was on hand at the par 3, 18th hole to raise funds for Lifeline Australia. The event raised more than $600. Andrew Mullen collected the $250 Drummond Gift Card on offer for the nearest-to-the-pin at the GFAC 18th hole. Other NTP's include Sue Ham, Andrew Mullen, Leigh Shacklady, Brett Adams and Graham Harrison. Angela Burdon and Nathan King produced the longest drives at the 9th hole.

The Drummond Golf Cup moves to Perth on October 22 for the Drummond Golf Cup Western Australia Championship to be staged at The Vines.
