Who is the 2021 PGA Tour Player of The Year?

And, then there are five!

Patrick Cantlay, Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English, Collin Morikawa and Jon Rahm have been nominated for PGA TOUR Player of the Year (Jack Nicklaus Award).

The 2020/21 PGA Tour season was huge! The super-season covered 361 days and included 50 tournaments. There were six major championships, an Olympics, three World Golf Championships, the coveted PLAYERS Championship and the season-ending FedExCup Playoffs.

The Player of the Year award is decided by a vote of PGA Tour members who played at least 15 official FedExCup events during the season. Voting closes September 10 with the winner announced shortly after.

The nominees for the Jack Nicklaus Award as the 2020/21 PGA Tour Player of The Year In alphabetical order…

PATRICK CANTLAY
The 29-year-old Californian made 24 starts and enjoyed four victories—the most wins by any player in 2021/22 wrap-around season. Cantlay claimed the ZOZO Championship, the memorial Tournament, the BMW Championship and the TOUR Championship en route to winning the lucrative FedExCup. The clutch performer led the Tour statistics in scrambling. However, while he was a prolific earner from regular PGA Tour events, he was unable to make his mark at the majors with a meager best finish of T15 at the US Open in June.

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU
The long-hitting American, who led the Tour in driving distance (323.7 yards), scored two big wins to press his case for Player of The Year. The 27-year-old Californian claimed the opening event of the 2020/21 season at the US Open by a whopping six shots at Winged Foot Golf Club. DeChambeau added a ‘W’ to his list of titles in March at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He made 22 starts recording nine top 10s that included T3 at The PLAYERS Championship and runner up at the BMW Championship during the FedExCup Playoffs.

HARRIS ENGLISH
The 32-year-old from Georgia enjoyed a stand-out year breaking an eight-season winless streak to bank two wins—the Sentry Tournament of Champions and the Travelers Championship. Both wins were achieved in a playoff. English returned eight top 10 finishes from 22 events, which included top 5 five results at the US Open in 2020 & 2021.

COLLIN MORIKAWA
When it comes to winning big events, Collin Morikawa knows how to get the job done! The 24-year-old sensation won a WGC title and a major championship during the 2020/21 season. Morikawa opened his winning account in February at the WGC-Workday Championship at The Concession. And, in July at Royal St George’s Golf Club, the Californian won the Open Championship at his debut start at that event. The talented young-gun produced top 10 results at the US Open and PGA Championship.

JON RAHM
The 26-year-old Spaniard ended the 2020/21 season as golf’s world No. 1. His remarkable journey netted him his maiden major title at the US Open staged at Torrey Pines. Rahm boasted five top 10 results from the six majors contested during the award period. He was the model for consistency leading the Tour in most top 10s with 15 from just 22 starts. Rahm also led the PGA Tour in scoring average (69.30). Many consider he would have doubled his seasons winning tally at the Memorial Tournament where he led the field by six shots after 54 holes before being forced to withdraw due to testing positive for COVID-19.
