Svensson Claims Maiden PGA Tour Win

Canada’s Adam Svensson pulled away late on Sunday from a crowded leaderboard to win The RSM Classic at Sea Island Resort in Georgia. The 28-year-old, who is in his third season on the PGA Tour, had never finished better than 6th from his previous 69 starts on that tour. Svensson claimed his first PGA Tour victory after rounds of 73, 64, 62 and 64 to reach 19-under.

Svensson, who started the final round one shot off the lead, fired a bogey-free 6-under 64 final round. The 28-year-old took a one-shot lead after draining a birdie putt from 17 feet at the 16th hole. The impressive roll broke a four-way deadlock at the top of the leaderboard. Svensson made another birdie at the par 3, 17th hole after knocking his iron approach to 10 feet from the hole. He secured his maiden PGA Tour title with a comfortable par at the final hole to remain at 19-under.

England’s Callum Tarren and American duo Sahith Theegala and Brian Harman took a share of second place two shots back at 17-under. Little know Tarren fired a final round 6-under 64 for his best result on the PGA Tour. Harman, who was searching for his third PGA Tour win, scored a 5-under 65. Theegala was in the hunt for his first PGA Tour win. The 24-year-old carded a 4-under 66 on Sunday to match his best result on the PGA Tour.

Aaron Baddeley was the only Australian to make the cut. The veteran signed for a 2-under 68 on Sunday to reach 9-under and finish in a tie for 39th place.

The RSM Classic is the last official event on the PGA Tour this calendar year. The PGA Tour will resume in the first week of January at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
