DeChambeau Shoots 58 To Win LIV Golf Greenbrier
A fully pumped Bryson DeChambeau created history firing the first sub-60 round in LIV Golf. The long-hitting American poured in 13 birdies en route to carding a magical 58 on Sunday to win LIV Greenbrier. The previous best round in LIV Golf was 61, which was owned by Branden Grace, Matthew Wolff and DeChambeau.
DeChambeau, aged 29, produced a 9-under 61 on Saturday. On Sunday, he went three shots lower to boast an incredible 21-under over the weekend. The 2020 US Open champion pulled away from a packed leaderboard to win his maiden LIV Golf event by six shots with his 23-under event total.
Mito Pereira took outright second place at 17-under. The 28-year-old Chilean returned a 7-under 63 on Sunday to vault on to the podium for his best finish this season.
England’s Richard Bland signed for a 5-under 65 final round to reach 16-under. The 50-year-old tour veteran was joined on that mark by overnight leaders David Puig (66) and Matthew Wolff (66).
None of the Australians fired. Marc Leishman (33rd), Matt Jones (34th) and Cameron Smith (35th) all finished at 6-under.
Talor Gooch, who has produced three wins this season, leads the individual LIV standings. Cameron Smith is lying in second place with Brooks Koepka rounding off the top three.
Torque GC won a record fourth team victory this season. The line up of Joaquin Niemann (Captain), Mito Pereira, David Puig, and Sebastiian Munoz got to 49-under and overcome Crushers GC by three shots. The ever-consistent 4Aces GC continues to hold the lead in the overall Team standings. The all-American line up led by Dustin Johnson holds a seven-point lead over Torque GC. The Australian crew at Ripper GC is ranked eighth out of the 12 teams this season.
The LIV Golf Tour moves to New Jersey for LIV Golf Bedminster to be staged at Trump National Golf Club from August 11 - 13.
