PGA TOUR - FARMERS INSURANCE OPEN - ROUND 1
Cameron Smith, Rhein Gibson and Adam Scott made a strong start at the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, California.
Smith and Gibson completed their opening rounds in 6-under 66. Gibson went bogey free. Scott carded a 5-under 67 that included an eagle at the fifth hole.
America’s Patrick Reed and Sweden’s Alex Noren lead the event at 8-under. Reed was flawless with eight unanswered birdies that included opening his round with three straight sub par holes.
Defending champion Marc Leishman stumbled early in his round at the fourth hole recording a triple bogey. The 37-year-old Victorian rebounded with four birdies and remains in the hunt at 1-under.
