Phil Mickelson

2021 PGA Championship

Phil Mickelson created history winning the PGA Championship to become the oldest golfer to win a major. The 50-year-old American scored a two shot victory over Brooks Koepka and Louis Oosthuizen.

Mickelson, who now boasts six major titles, led the field in birdies with 22. It was an impressive feat around the Ocean Course at Kiawah island, which is rated one of the most difficult courses in America.

The Hall of Fame legend, who has been a Callaway staffer since 2004, set up a number of those crucial birdies after bombing massive drives off the tee. This was most evident at the par 5, 16th hole on Sunday, when Mickelson thrilled the gallery with an incredible 366-yard drive. It was the longest drive by anyone in the field on that hole on the final day. Mickelson carries a Callaway Epic Speed Driver, which features the brand’s artificial intelligence designed Jailbreak Speed Frame to deliver faster ball speeds. Mickelson, who joined the PGA Tour Champions last year collecting two titles in his opening two starts, ranked 21st in the field over the four rounds this week with an average driving distance of 313.1 yards.

In other key stats, Mickelson ranked T12 in Greens in Regulation. And, he was sound on the putting surfaces ranking 6th in Putts Per Green in Regulation.

With his win, Mickelson jumped 123 places to 45th in the FedExCup standings.
