Smith locked in for Australia's Summer of Golf

Cam Smith, Australia's top-ranked golfer, is set for an exciting return to his homeland for the Summer of Golf, featuring the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship and the ISPS HANDA Australian Open. Currently ranked 11th in the world, Smith will defend his PGA title, won in front of a jubilant home crowd last year at Royal Queensland in Brisbane from November 23-26.

Following his defense of the PGA title, Smith will aim to secure his first victory at the ISPS HANDA Australian Open, hosted by The Australian and The Lakes golf clubs from November 30 to December 3. As the winner of the historic 150th Open Championship at St Andrews last year and with two top-10 finishes in this year's majors, Smith remains a golf sensation.

Smith's unwavering support for Australian golf and the PGA Tour of Australasia promises to draw enthusiastic crowds to these prestigious tournaments. Golf Australia CEO James Sutherland hailed Smith as a significant drawcard for Australian golf, and Dr. Handa, Chairman and Founder of ISPS HANDA, expressed excitement about Smith's participation.

In the early stages of his career, Smith narrowly missed victory in a playoff against Jordan Spieth at the 2016 Australian Open. His Australian PGA Championship record boasts consecutive wins in 2017-18 at Royal Pines Resort and a triumphant three-shot victory at Royal Queensland last year. These tournaments will also be co-sanctioned with the DP World Tour, adding to their significance on the 2023/24 Race to Dubai schedule.
