David Micheluzzi Earns Rich Rewards After Winning The NSW Open
David Micheluzzi stormed home with a stunning 6-under 65 to win the PLAY TODAY NSW Open by two shots. The 26-year-old Victorian came from five shots behind to record his third victory this Australasian season, having collected the WA PGA Championship in October and TPS Sydney in February. Micheluzzi is the first player to enjoy a three-win season on the Australasian Tour since fellow Victorian Robert Allenby in 2005.
With the win at Rich River, Micheluzzi secured the ISPA HANDA PGA Tour Order of Merit, which earns him a start at the 2023 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool and a ticket to play on the DP World Tour during the 2023-24 season. The gifted Melburnian will bank the $72,000 winner’s prize cheque—the largest payday of his young professional career.
Micheluzzi fired rounds of 67, 66, 66 and 65 to reach 20-under.
Queensland’s Kade McBride finished in solo second place at 18-under after he took a three-shot lead into the final round. McBride closed with a 1-over 72 after producing a double-bogey at the final hole.
Lincoln Tighe (63), Nathan Barbieri (67) and Dylan Perry (68) took a share of third place a shot further back at 17-under.
The ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia moves to The National Golf Club for the season-ending The National Tournament.
