Macpherson Seizes Moonah Links PGA Classic

Bryden Macpherson produced clutch golf down the final stretch to claim the Moonah Links PGA Classic. The 30-year-old collected his maiden ISPS HANDA PGA Tour title by one shot over Sydney’s Justin Warren.

Macpherson, who started the final round three shots behind joint leaders Warren and New Zealand’s Michael Hendry, fired a final round 8-under 64 to reach 18-under. The stunning round was the best of the field by two shots on Sunday and included an eagle and four birdies over his closing six holes.

Macpherson won the 2011 British Amateur before turning professional in 2012. This win at the Open Course, Moonah Links is Macpherson’s fourth title as a professional. He owns three victories in China.

“Winning at home is awesome, and on the Peninsula even better, but there are much bigger events on this tour. “I look forward to trying to compete in them over the next few years,” Macpherson said.

Warren took a commanding three-shot lead after scoring an eagle at the fourth hole. He dropped back to the pack with three bogeys in the middle of his round and carded a 4-under 68 to finish in a tie for second place with Hendry (69).

Three players tied for third place at 14-under— Dimi Papadatos, John Lyras and Travis Smyth.

Macpherson collected the first place prize cheque of $22,500.
